Description
This is a basic set where all the icons contain scenes from the lives of the saints and the Bible. It was pulled together to give those new to Orthodoxy a means to easily fill out their first icon corner. (Welcome!) Of course you can use this as a starter and add in other icons from the site as well. You can also find other sets built around different themes: most popular icons, recent saints, universal saints, for men, for women, for a family.
The icon of Christ is of Him creating the animal kingdom. The icon of the Theotokos is the “Akathist” icon and contains 24 scenes of her life and God’s miracles. The icon of St. John the Baptist has 12 scenes from his life. Finally, we have St. Andrei Rublev’s icon of the Trinity. It’s taken from the Old Testament when three angels (traditionally considered the Trinity) were given hospitality by the Patriarch Abraham and his wife Sarah.
