New to Orthodoxy Icon Set – For Women – Basic Set – Set 16

Description

This is a basic set where the theme is giving women inspiration in the good struggle ahead. It was pulled together to give those new to Orthodoxy a means to easily fill out their first icon corner. (Welcome!) Of course you can use this as a starter and add in other icons from the site as well. You can also find other sets built around different themes: most popular icons, universal saints, recent saints, icons with scenes/stories, for men, or for a family.

It has the icon of Christ the Good Shepherd and the Theotokos of Tender Mercy. Then it has a new icon of the recently glorified St. (Matushka) Olga of Alaska. In her life she was the wife of an Alaskan priest and spent her days as a mother of her children and her village. Her children are still alive today. After her falling asleep, she became especially known for her help of women who had had difficult upbringings or times in life. The words “God can create great beauty out of complete desolation,” are words she spoke in a vision to one such sufferer, after healing her from very severe childhood trauma. The final icon is of the famous martyrs St. Sophia and her daughters Faith, Hope, and Love, who boldly confessed Christ in front of the Roman Emperor.
