The Holy Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob hold the souls of the Righteous in their bosom, and behind them are a sea of their descendants dressed in white and standing with reverence and honor, with their arms crossed as we do before we receive Holy Communion. These are the Prophets and the Forefathers of God Incarnate who were looking for the promise made to Abraham that in them the whole world would learn about God and be blessed.

From the Christ’s Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus with the Patriarch Abraham, we know that there is a great abyss between the souls of those who have fallen asleep from life in this world who lived righteously and humbly, and those who have died and just had their reward in this life instead. Divine life in God always begins here on earth for those born of the seed of Adam and Eve, except for the God-Man Jesus Christ, Who took on flesh for our salvation, and lived always in His loving relationship with God the Father and the Holy Spirit in all Eternity and before time existed. Let us begin again today to make our life with God real and immediate, and by mercy and love choose humility in Christ.
